Today’s post is about enhancing radiance while treating pigmentation, dark spots, and melasma.

I’ll explain why toning alone isn’t always enough and why combining it with treatments like Rejuran, JubeLook, Potenza, and Oligio can be necessary for optimal results.

If you’ve read my previous posts, you probably already know how committed I am to treating pigmentation, dark spots, melasma, and mixed-type pigmentation!

In today’s post, I want to share some insights I’ve gained while performing these pigment-removing treatments.

I’ve actually noticed these points for quite some time, and I already explain them to patients during consultations and treatments. However, it took some time to organize and present them clearly in a blog-friendly format.

What are pigmentation lasers and toning treatments?
Pigmentation laser treatments, as the name suggests, specifically target and remove pigmentation.

They are designed to lighten only the pigment lesions on your face—such as dark spots, freckles, and melasma. Even just fading these spots can bring satisfaction.

Honestly, many people don’t even receive proper treatment for this, which is unfortunate.

Case: 40s Female

  • Dark spot removal and pigmentation laser treatment
  • Dark spot removal + combined pigmentation laser

You can remove even large pigmented spots like this.

However, what does it mean if you have freckles, dark spots, or melasma on your face?

These are signs of skin aging. Even if you’ve reduced pigmentation through lasers or toning treatments, you might wonder: “Why doesn’t my skin glow? Why doesn’t it feel radiant like I expected?”

For pigmentation laser treatments, we use a device called MarkView to compare before and after. It offers four different modes:

  1. The first photo shows pigmentation only.
  2. The second photo shows glow.

[Pigmentation Mode – Before & After]

Pigmentation Mode – Before & After

The scattered pigmentation on the face has been effectively removed.

[Glow Mode – Before & After]
You can also observe the added radiance and healthier-looking skin tone in the Glow Mode comparison.

Glow Mode – Before & After

Even though the pigmentation was effectively removed, the Glow View shows little difference in radiance.

At this stage, patients are still satisfied, but the skin doesn’t yet appear shiny or radiant.

Why is that?
If you have blemishes, dark spots, or melasma, your skin base is already showing signs of aging.

Typical characteristics of aging skin:

  • Thin
  • Lacking elasticity
  • Appears tired
  • Dull and uneven

Conversely, healthy, elastic, youthful skin tends to look:

  • Firm and plump
  • Bright and radiant

Key point: Simply removing pigmentation isn’t enough.
To achieve glowing skin, treatments that strengthen the skin base and restore elasticity should be combined with pigmentation lasers. This synergy significantly increases patient satisfaction.

Case: 40s male

  • Pigmentation laser + Glow-enhancing treatment

[Pigmentation Mode – Before & After]

This is the “Pigmentation Comparison Mode.”

In Pigmentation Mode, you can clearly see that the pigmentation has been effectively reduced.

[Before & After – Glow Mode]

This is a “Glow Comparison Mode”.

Not only has the pigmentation been effectively removed, but in Glow Mode, you can clearly see that the skin looks much more radiant and lively than before.

When the underlying skin quality improves and this natural glow appears, the overall satisfaction with the skin increases significantly.

Case 60. 40s Female
Treatment: Dark spot & combined pigmentation laser + glow enhancement

[Before & After – Glow Mode]

Just like in the previous case, it’s not enough to just remove pigmentation—the skin itself needs to become healthier and stronger. That’s when you’ll notice the so-called “inner glow”, where the skin appears visibly brighter and more radiant.

So, how can you enhance this glow?

If the skin is thin, weak, and dull due to aging, treatments that make the skin firmer and more youthful will help bring out that glow.

Step 1: A very simple and effective method is to use skin boosters or skin botox—these injectables help strengthen and revitalize the skin from within, giving it that radiant, healthy appearance.

You’re probably already familiar with the fact that skin boosters like Rejuran and JubeLuck stimulate collagen regeneration in the dermis, which helps improve intrinsic dryness and fine wrinkles. Essentially, these treatments involve injecting these boosters into the skin periodically.

Step 2: While benefiting from the skin booster’s effects, you can also combine it with the power of lasers for a synergistic approach—enhancing skin quality and anti-aging results at the same time.

By combining skin boosters (Rejuran, JubeLuck) with radiofrequency lasers like Potenza or Oligio, you can address both skin texture improvement from the booster and anti-aging benefits from the RF treatment in a single session.

Additionally, if injections are a concern due to visible marks, HydraFacial can be used to refine the skin and add glow without leaving traces.

Bonus – Why Redness (Vascular) Laser May Be Needed:
When facial redness is present, it can make pigmentation appear worse, causing uneven skin tone. In such cases, alongside pigment removal, treating the underlying redness with a vascular laser is recommended.

Case: Female in her 40s–50s
Reason for Redness Laser: Facial redness amplifies existing pigmentation, so addressing both pigment and redness provides a more uniform, radiant complexion.

Looking at the skin under the glow view, you can clearly see how much redness affects overall facial tone. Of course, effectively removing pigmentation isn’t an easy task. It’s unfortunate how many people have come to clinics through referrals, YouTube, or blogs only to receive countless meaningless “toning” treatments.

Now, why not try proper pigmentation treatment at a place where they don’t just reduce color, but also care for the underlying quality of your skin? Thank you.
