Acne Marks, Redness, and Bumps After Repeated Breakouts (Before & After)

If you’ve been dealing with recurring acne, it’s common to be left with a mix of pigmentation, redness, tiny bumps, and early scar texture. When breakouts keep repeating, there comes a point where it’s best to reset the skin and start a structured treatment plan.

Case 1: Female, Early 20s

About two years prior, the patient had tried extractions, scaling, and laser treatments. She stopped because she felt there was no noticeable improvement at the time.

After that, she used a steroid ointment regularly. Over time, this contributed to facial redness, sensitivity, and itching, and her skin barrier became noticeably weaker. In addition to acne, she also showed signs consistent with steroid-induced acneiform dermatitis.

Because her acne kept cycling and leaving marks behind, we explained that it wasn’t just about treating individual pimples—she would need a plan that addressed breakouts, inflammation, and recovery together.

Treatment Plan (Clinic-Based)

  • Scar-focused laser: 10 sessions
  • Regeneration laser: 10 sessions
  • LDM (skin barrier recovery): 10 sessions
  • Scaling (GA peeling): 5 sessions

Total in-clinic treatment time was approximately 3–4 months.

Even when the treatments sound similar—scaling, extractions, and laser sessions—the outcome and overall satisfaction can be very different depending on factors like skin condition, timing, technique, device settings, and aftercare.

For students who have just finished their college entrance exams, one of the treatments I recommend most often is acne scaling and ongoing acne management. It’s a simple starting point that can make a big difference in how smoothly the skin recovers.

In my experience, the most essential foundation of acne care is consistently managing dead skin buildup, clogged pores, and early micro-bumps before they turn into inflamed breakouts.

At our clinic, we customize treatment based on the type, depth, and stage of acne, marks, and scarring. Options may include basic extraction and scaling, gentle device-based care (such as HydraFacial), and a range of laser procedures.

For mild discoloration or redness, we may use targeted laser treatments. For fine scars or lingering marks, we may consider options such as CureJet, Potenza, or Juvederm—depending on the skin’s condition and goals.

Thank you.
