Why did melasma, dark spots, and blemishes not improve with laser treatment or Pico Toning?!

Hello,
This is Hev Dermatology Clinic.

This post was written in accordance with the Medical Service Act and was created by a medical institution operated by a board-certified dermatologist at Hev Clinic, with the consent of the patient who received treatment.
It is not intended to emphasize treatment effects or personal treatment experiences, but rather to provide general information about dermatology and aesthetic procedures.

This post provides various medical information, including possible side effects that may occur from the procedure. In accordance with Article 56, Paragraph 2, Subparagraph 7 of the Medical Service Act, diagnoses and treatment results may vary depending on the individual, and both effects and side effects may differ from person to person.

The effects of any procedure may vary, and it’s important to have a thorough consultation beforehand regarding possible side effects (such as pigmentation, bruising, or swelling).

As summer passes and autumn arrives,
I’ve noticed that more people are starting pigment treatments.

If you’re reading this post,
You’ve probably been searching for solutions for freckles, melasma, or dark spots
those dull areas that have been bothering you—and ended up here!

As we age, various types of pigmentation appear on our faces.

They may look similar, but in fact, the diagnosis can be very different.
And a different diagnosis means that the necessary treatment, duration, and energy required are completely different.

When these pigmentary lesions appear, makeup often cannot cover them,
making the skin look dull, uneven, and older than it actually is.

You know what I mean, right…?!

Our clinic has no marketing for pigmentation treatments at all,
yet people find us purely through word of mouth and before-and-after photos on blogs!

Before procedure vs. after procedure.

The person who visited us today had been struggling with melasma, freckles, and dark spots that started after giving birth.

She had been worried about trying treatments elsewhere and didn’t want to experience failure, so she searched extensively before deciding to come to our clinic.

Why was that…?!
Why didn’t Pico Toning work?

At our clinic, we see so many patients who came to us after 10 or 20 sessions elsewhere without any improvement.

Pigment treatment is challenging.
The diagnosis itself is difficult, and even if the diagnosis is correct, every person’s skin type is different, so the treatment has to be tailored in subtle ways.

Now, Pico Toning!!!

We use Pico Toning effectively at our clinic, and I personally like it!
But Pico Toning is, by definition, a low-energy treatment applied gently across the entire face.

Within that low-energy range, some pigments may gradually lighten over a long period,
but most melasma, freckles, and dark spots will absolutely not disappear with Pico Toning alone.

That’s why, especially at the start, customized pigment treatment with energy levels adjusted for each lesion is necessary.

If pigment removal were that simple, lasers specifically designed to target pigments—
like melasma lasers, dark spot lasers, or Re: Pol lasers—
would never have become popular.

In fact, we’ve handled many cases where patients had multiple unsuccessful treatments at other clinics,
and then finally saw results with proper treatment at our clinic.

Thank you.
