Case 105: Female, late 40s
Today’s patient visited our clinic with a simple (and very relatable) thought:
“It feels like everyone around me is taking care of their skin—so it’s finally my turn to start!”
Because this was her first dermatology treatment, she came in with plenty of questions and concerns—which is completely normal when you’re trying something new for the first time.
In this post, we’ll walk through the concerns she wrote down and how we approached them together.

Her top concerns (in order)
- Nasolabial folds
- Pores
- Dullness (dark spots, freckles, pigmentation)
Honestly… who doesn’t put nasolabial folds at the top of the list?
For her second and third concerns—pores and overall dullness—we performed a MarkView skin analysis to get a clearer picture.

The analysis showed freckles, pigmentation, and discoloration around the eyes.
We also noted that her pores looked enlarged not only in the T-zone, but along the jawline as well.
Recommended treatment plan
To help fade pigmentation and improve the look of dull, uneven skin tone, we recommended the following:
- Pigmentation lasers to target discoloration
- Juvederm Voluma + Highcooks – Potenza to help improve the look of pores
- Regular Botox for forehead and glabella (between-the-brows) lines
Before & after: Pigmentation around the eyes
First, here are the before-and-after photos showing the results of pigmentation treatment around the eyes.

You can see that her overall tone looks brighter, and the freckles and dark spots around the eyes have softened.
And as the skin texture improved, the pores also appear smoother and tighter overall.
Main concern: Nasolabial folds (Juvederm Voluma)
Next, let’s look at the treatment that addressed her #1 concern:
Nasolabial fold correction with Juvederm Voluma.

As her under-eye hollows and front-cheek volume loss progressed, they indirectly made the nasolabial folds look deeper.
She hadn’t noticed this connection before, so we reviewed it together during the consultation and planned treatment accordingly.
After treatment, the nasolabial folds look noticeably softer. With additional Juvederm Voluma (or a tailored filler plan), the result could be enhanced even further depending on her goals.
Overall changes: Impression & complexion

She initially worried that adding volume might make her face look wider or larger, since she already feels her face looks a bit long. However, Juvederm Voluma is designed to restore volume in a natural, balanced way—so it doesn’t create an overly “puffy” look when planned appropriately.
Because this was her first aesthetic dermatology experience, she also had moments where the changes felt a little unfamiliar. That’s something many first-time patients experience, and it’s one of the reasons we share these case posts—so you can understand the process more comfortably.
Many people come in with similar concerns, and most leave the clinic smiling after choosing a plan that fits their face and goals.
I hope this post helps you learn about your skin and explore treatments and lasers step by step, at your own pace.
Thank you.
