Case 101: Post-Shingles Pigmentation & Scarring (Male, Early 60s)
A male patient in his early 60s visited our dermatology clinic for help with dark marks (hyperpigmentation) and scarring on the face and glabella that developed after shingles.

The Challenge: A Wedding in Just 16 Days
I first met OOO on August 21. He was the parent of the bride/groom, and his child’s wedding was coming up in just 16 days (September 7).
If you’ve ever looked into pigmentation or scar treatments, you already know the reality: two weeks is a very short timeframe to make a big change—especially for deeper scars.
Because the wedding was so close, our top priority was helping his skin look as even and refreshed as possible—without choosing treatments that require long downtime. That naturally limited our options.
Goal setting mattered most here. The patient understood the time constraints, so we agreed to maximize visible improvement before the wedding and then continue treatment afterward for longer-term scar and pigmentation improvement.
Treatment Approach (Low-Downtime Focus)
We combined laser-based treatment with regenerative injection therapy to support faster recovery and improve overall skin tone and texture.
Results: Before Treatment vs. Right After the Wedding (2 Weeks)
The photo below was taken after two weeks of regenerative-focused treatments, right after the wedding in early September.

Before: August 21, 2023 | After: September 18, 2023
These images are shared with the patient’s consent and are original, unedited photos of the same person, taken in the same location.
Important: Results vary by individual. Please make sure to have a thorough consultation before treatment, including possible side effects such as temporary pigmentation changes, bruising, swelling, or redness.
Some marks were still visible at the two-week point, but compared with the initial visit, they were much easier to cover with makeup—which was exactly what the patient needed for the wedding day.
From here, our plan was simple: keep going and gradually clear what remains.
Progress Update: Before Treatment vs. After 10 Regenerative Sessions

Before: August 21, 2023 | After: September 18, 2023
These images are shared with the patient’s consent and are original, unedited photos of the same person, taken in the same location.
Because outcomes can differ from person to person, please consult with your provider in advance about expected results and potential side effects (pigmentation changes, bruising, swelling, etc.).
What It Looked Like in Real Life

At this stage, the post-shingles marks and scarring were barely noticeable in everyday lighting.
The deeper scar in the glabella area was our biggest concern, but it has improved significantly with treatment.
Going forward, we recommended continuing regular regenerative injection treatments to maintain momentum and keep improving texture and tone.
Thank you.
