Lately, our clinic has been especially focused on skin boosters, fillers, and lifting treatments—and today, we’re sharing a real upper eyelid filler case for hollow, tired-looking eyes.

Our Approach to Skin Boosters & Filler Treatments
When people think of skin boosters, Juvéderm and Juvéderm Voluma often come to mind. In 2024, our clinic was the only one in the region to receive a master certification for these products. During this year’s “1 million vial event,” we also ranked in the top 100 nationwide in usage—even though we’ve only been open for about a year and a half.
Another product we use extensively is Radiesse. Our clinic was the first in the region selected as a Radiesse training center, which means we not only perform these treatments—we also teach them.
Skin boosters like Juvéderm Voluma and Radiesse are typically injected with a cannula (a long, flexible tube-like needle). Depending on the plan, we can also use cannula techniques for filler procedures, which allows us to offer a wide range of customized filler treatments.
“Lip Fillers Aren’t Special”… Until They Are
Because of our cannula-based techniques and detailed design approach, we also perform specialized filler procedures, including lip fillers.
You might be thinking:
“Lip fillers? Everyone does those—how is that a specialty?”
For many patients in their 20s and 30s, the lip line is naturally defined and the skin around the mouth is firm—so the margin for error is relatively small. But for patients in their 60s and 70s, it’s a completely different story.
At that stage, we have to evaluate not only the lips, but the entire perioral area (the skin and structure around the mouth). Filler selection and treatment design become much more important to keep results natural and balanced.
With this approach, I was honored to receive an academic award from the Korean Dermatological Association. There were so many outstanding presentations by other directors that I genuinely thought, “Do I really deserve this?”—but it was a meaningful moment and a reminder to keep raising the bar.
In practice, we provide both high-demand treatments and highly specialized, less common procedures. Some areas are so niche that many dermatology or plastic surgery clinics don’t offer them. I don’t often post those cases on blogs or social media, so I’m always surprised (and grateful) when patients still manage to find us—whether through word of mouth or referrals.
A Case We See Often: Upper Eyelid Filler
One filler area we see consistently is upper eyelid filler—especially for patients who feel their eyes look hollow, tired, or older than they actually feel.
F/55
When she’s tired, her eyes appear very hollow and sunken.

This is common in people who naturally have less fat above the eyelids—or whose volume decreases with age. The eyes can look more sunken later in the day or whenever the body is tired.
So how do we restore volume in a deeply hollow area—almost like inflating a deflated tire?
The answer is straightforward: filler. The key is choosing the right product and using the right technique for the eyelid’s delicate anatomy.
Why Product Choice Matters (Especially for Eyelids)
Every filler has a different “personality”—firmness, particle characteristics, and how it integrates with tissue. And of course, everyone’s skin is different, too:
- Thick skin vs. thin skin
- Firm skin vs. loose/sagging skin
- Different ages and healing responses
That’s why we select fillers based on the individual and tailor the procedure to match that patient’s specific anatomy and goals.
Before vs. after upper eyelid filler for sunken eyes:

I still remember how happy she was—she said it felt like she could see the shape of her eyes from her 30s again.
(And yes… that kind of comment always gets to me a little. I guess I’m naturally on the sentimental side.)
Important Considerations for Upper Eyelid Filler
- The upper eyelid area is small and narrow, so the amount of filler that can be used safely is limited.
- Because the area moves frequently, some patients may need small, periodic touch-ups to maintain a smooth, natural look.
Since the eye area is both functionally and aesthetically important—and it’s one of the first places people notice—make sure you consult with an experienced specialist so your treatment is planned for both safety and natural-looking results.
Thank you.
